UPP lampoons Abia governor over poor governance

Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji

The United Progressive Party, UPP, has said the governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, has no idea how to transform the state and provide the dividends of democracy to its people.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ogbuehi Dike, to mark the 23rd anniversary of the creation of Abia State, the party he state was stinking and that it had become a laughing stock in the country due to inept leadership of the governor.

It alleged that Mr. Orji juxtaposed developmental projects with cronyism infrastructure.

Abia State was created in August 1991. Part of the state was, however, excised to join a part of Enugu State to form the present Ebonyi State.

The UPP said the famous Enyimba City, Aba had become a zoo while Umuahia, the state capital was now a glorified village, stressing, “Sadly, the PDP government has failed the good people of Abia State.”

The opposition party added, “In ill-conceived celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the creation of Abia State on 27th August 2014, Chief Authur Eze, an illustrious son of Ndigbo and PDP chieftain, lambasted the Governor Orji over poor governance of the State, emphasizing that “Abia Stinks”.

“Authur Eze spoke the minds of all Abians which buttressed our position that Abia is the worst governed State in the country. We call on patriotic Abians, indeed Ndigbo to support this bold and unequivocal statement from Chief Authur Eze to rescue the State from the cabal that has held it captive and hostage since 2007.”

The UPP said Abia State was in need an “intensive surgery to clear the PDP misrule that mortgaged the destiny of the people for a mess of pottage from our common patrimony.”

The party also said it was on a rescue mission to save Abia State from extinction and captivity.

It urged urge the people of the State to support a progressive party that would provide dividends of democracy, not carnage.

It said, “Great Abians, it is time to change oppressive and reactionary forces with progressivism. It is time to rebuild and transform Abia State. It is time to resist autocracy and dictatorship.
Be part of the mass movement which UPP represents to enthrone genuine democracy and good governance. It is time for action.

“2015 general election provides an opportunity to change the PDP regime. We urge eligible voters to obtain their permanent voter cards, perform their civic duties on election days and ensure their votes are counted and count in the overall result. Together we shall rescue Abia State.”

I see. So everything Gov. T.A Orji has done for Abia state doesn’t count? Rescue Abia from what exactly? For one, T.A. Orji has given the educational system in the state a proper facelift. Ndi UPP please go and sit down, if you don’t know what to say. Stop seeking for cheap publicity.

  • chinyere okwudili

Lmao! UPP, bunch of jokers! Where was Abia state before T.A Orji took over? Please! People like you lots are the type to ruin the hardwork TA Orji has put in. I totally believe that UPP is not fit to rule Abia. You’re all just a bunch of hungry people.

    • Enyinnaya

Oho, my sister tell them oooo. I dont know why people are this black-hearted when they need power.

    • Ugo Eche

This is the first time I’m hearing of UPP really.

  • Agu ndi igbo

Abia truly stinks, the only industry in Abia is sycophancy,UPP is right,we shall kick this visionless TA and his paid agents like the internet warriors in his payroll out.Teachers and other civil servants are owed several months arrears.

    • Enyinnaya

Right for what reason? What does UPP stand for? What is their political ideology? What is their principle of leadership? A political party that simply exist in one LGA? Abeg..

  • Damola

“Aba had become a zoo while Umuahia, the state capital was now a glorified village” Hahaha dis a BIG FAT LIE , pls get your facts right , before u post nonsense next tym !!!

    • Enyinnaya

That man saying that thing, I believe has turned his father’s house into a poultry cadge. For using such words he must be a staunch political illiterate

  • OyinDamola

“Sadly, the PDP government has failed the good people of Abia State.” Oh y’all shld pls shut d hell up…so all wat TA Orji has done for Abia doesn’t count ?????? Really…All ye UPP pple should just go sit somewhere cos am very sure you wont evn do any better wen u get there

  • Tofarati

History will always remember TA Orji , as a leader who inspite of d enormous challenges which confronted his govt ably succeeded in liberating and moving Abia to d path or irreversible socio -economic and political progress ….so wat exactly are we rescuing Abia from ??? Cos TA Orji has really done a lot for Abia state pple and am very sure they’re not complaining….so y’all UPP shld stop seeking for attention

    • Stephen

Took the words out of my mouth.

  • Enyinnaya

So Engr. Author Eze can talk after embezzling fund meant for the transformation ESBS which led to closing it down. Mtchewww

  • Enyinnaya

All these power mongers that hardly differentiate between true leadership and wishful propaganda in politics. If you want to contest for election, why waste your time criticizing the ruling party. If I were you, I would have come up with a political ideology different from what they have instead of ushering undue criticisms on a governor that has nearly laid his life for Abian..

  • Nwa orlu

Simply put why wait till next election impeach the bush man ,ta orji…

  • James Onuoha

I personally don’t consider all this rubbish people write on the social media or even the news papers, Authur Eze was trying to let people know that the federal roads all round the eastern state needs attention, then political opponents like OUK see it as an opportunity to coin the statement… simply saying the truth, T.A has done greatly in the state in all sectors.

  • James Onuoha

The truth is that all this media rubbish has never or will not distract T.A from the great transformation going on in Abia

  • James Onuoha

I so much respect the comment by Chiyere Okwudili.. plz ask who ever that write this where OUK left Abia. that T’A has so much transformed the state…just look at the health sector of the state… much has so far been done..kudos to T.A

  • Ugo Eche

I stay in Umuahia and in all truth, Umuahia since the inception of this government typifies what a state capital should be. If constructing a huge International Conference Centre, E-Library, Modern Worker’s secretariat, Ultra-modern high court complexes, decongesting of the city by building modern markets plus a whole lot more, if all these make Umuahia a glorified village, then please I will plead for more of it. Governance is not a miracle and we must encourage our leaders to enable them continue to do more. If Governor T.A Orji’s predecessors had done 1/3rd of what he did, it would have given him the leverage to focus on other aspects of governance. The security and unity alone experienced in this state is worthy of being eulogised.

  • Ugo Eche

The misrepresentation of Chief Arthur Eze’s statement also is very unfortunate. But we must be forward-minded and look at ways in which we can as individuals also contribute our quota to the betterment of our state.

  • donald

Which party UFF or UPP. Who will not seek recognition with this government. What has the government not done. Well you can rant all you want. There are visible proof and please this so called party should flush or join APC for relevance. Much said already.

  • kelly

@donald, thanks. A party seeking relevance. Poor judgement means poor thinking. How can one like dat lead a state. UPP filling tummy. Pls go and sleep. Try another states my unfriendly uncles

  • Chimaroke Christian

UPP is only looking for recognition, it is obvious failure is written all over the party.

  • Chimaroke Christian

I cnt even remember of any party with such acronym. If they are looking for recognition, they should go and merge with another party or better still, be flushed out as my brother Donald have just said.

  • donald

They are asking Nigeria to seek friendly help against boko haram. Is this thhe people we should listen to? Crying wolves. You are a failed state already. Try bornu or adamawa. Nonsense.

  • Chimaroke Christian

The party don’t even know where they are coming from and they can never know where they are going to.

  • UJU

how. UPP. WHATS UPP? NA UNIVERSAL CHARGER. SMH. LEARN FROM APGA. WITH TIME YOU WILL BE NOTICED. CHEAP PUBLICITY NO DEY PAY. HAHAHAHAHA @BORNU OR ADAMAWA. THEY WILL FINISH.

  • pearl

@ugo thank you for the caputal in such splendor. gbam. i was posted to abia state n to my surprise we have our own liason office n seriously that town is beautiful. shun talk. light and accessable roads. weldone governor of abia state. weldone.

  • okey madu

We cannot be cowed by this myopic UPP accessment of T.A. Orji’s addministration. Abia was in darkness before O chendo took over office. Now Abia is on a different level. Ochendo legacy prrojects is awesome and subsequent govs shd follow his blueprint to move Abia forward.

  • makas

UPP I believe is not a recognised party in south- east and do not exist so far that’s why they are making noise

  • Chigozie Okeahialam

UPP represents retrogression, envy and wickedness! Little wonder they have not won any election in the country. Chief T. A. Orji has done so much to liberate Abia and has performed so well in many areas, chief of which include security, healthcare, infrastructure, among many giant strides. As a people, we are made up for PDP as our party and President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief T. A. Orji as our men anyday!

  • onuigbo

Thank goodness T.O Orji is getting out for. Any body but Orji that knows there are 17 local government and not just dirt Aba and glorified Umuahia make developments and attention. The man has been a dummy when it comes to governance. Thanks to Author Eze nwa igbo for saying the truth about leaderless Abia from Uzukalu Orji to his namesake.
