Six people were killed in the accidents.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Zone RS5 said on Tuesday that it rescued 83 persons in 20 road crashes during this year’s Eid-el Fitr Sallah celebration.

Wole Olaniran, the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) of Edo, Delta and Anambra states, disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Benin.

Mr. Olaniran said that the command rescued the victims alive in the accidents with six deaths recorded.

He further disclosed that 42 persons were injured in the mishaps with Delta recording the highest number of 35 number while Edo and Anambra recorded two and five respectively.

The official said that the crashes occurred between August 7 and 11 at different routes in the affected states. He cautioned motorists to always obey traffic laws and to ensure that their vehicles were in good shapes before embarking on any journey.

He said that the corps was collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure that Nigerian roads were safe to drive at any time.

“The presence of our men will ever remain visible on the highways to caution motorists as well as provide quick rescue operations when accidents occur,’’ he said.
