The new government scribe is Udom Emmanuel.
The new Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, SSG, Udom Emmanuel, has been sworn-in.
He was sworn-in at the Government House, Uyo on Wednesday morning.
Mr. Emmanuel’s appointment was announced late on Tuesday night after the erstwhile SSG, Umana Umana, was forced by the governor, Godswill Akpabio, to resign after the expiration of a 48 hours ultimatum issued to him on Monday.
A one page statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umana, announcing the new appointment also thanked his predecessor in office “for his dedication and contributions to the uncommon transformation of Akwa Ibom State.”
”The Governor further described Obong Umana Okon Umana as a brother and a friend who displayed exceptional competence in the discharge of his duties in the last six years,” the statement said.
“He wished Obong Umana Okon Umana success in his future endeavours whilst congratulating the new appointee, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.”
Until his appointment, the new Secretary to the State Government was an Executive Director on the board of Zenith Bank Plc from December 2006.
An indigene of Onna Local Government Area in Eket Senatorial District of the State. Mr. Emmanuel also doubled as the non-Executive Director, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) since 2008 and Director, Nigerian Interbank Settlement Systems (NIBBS) from 2009.
He also served variously as a non-Executive Director, Zenith Bank, United Kingdom; Zenith Bank – Gambia; Zenith Bank – Sierra Leone; Zenith Insurance; Zenith Pensions and Custodian; Zenith Securities; Zenith Trustees and Zenith Registrars.
A corporate strategist and an experienced private sector player, Mr. Emmanuel has wide experience in various blue-chip organizations, including PriceWaterHouseCooper and Diamond Bank Plc.
