Ebonyi State University signs MoU on renewable energy with Finnish varsity

Renewable energy is a cleaner former of energy

Nov.6 (PREMIUM TIMES) —The Ebonyi State University in Abakaliki on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Laurea University of Applied Science, Finland, on renewable energy.

The Project Facilitator, Ritva Jaattea, said in Abakaliki that both universities would come up with new innovations on the generation of energy.

“Such innovations will help small scale business to use the renewal energy to solve their power supply problems.

“We want EBSU to serve as the gateway through which the African markets that have great need for energy could be penetrated,’’ she said.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Egwu Egwu, who signed on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, said that the initiative would help to improve electricity generation in the state.

“The two universities will also engage in the exchange of research, seminars and workshops,’’ he said.

The Director, Directorate of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation at the Ebonyi University, Johnny Ogunji, also remarked that the collaboration would make the waste generated in the state useful.

“The usefulness will be in terms of energy generation thereby cutting down on what is spent on electricity,’’ he said.
