Patience Tam-George, the 85-year-old mother of Rivers State commissioner for Information, Austin Tam-George, has been freed after six days in captivity.
The commissioner, Mr. Tam-George, in a text message to PREMIUM TIMES, said his mother was released late Thursday night.
Tam-George did not give details about her release.
He said Mrs. Tam-George had been taken to a private hospital in Rivers State “for evaluation and care”.
Mrs. Tam-George, 85, was said to be returning home from church in the evening when she was abducted on February 13 at George Ama area, Okrika town, Rivers state.
Her abductors later reportedly made a call with her mobile phone demanding N30 million as ransom.
