The Independent National Electoral Commission in Delta says it has distributed 2 million Permanent Voter Cards in the state. The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Aniedi Ikoiwak, made this known in an interview in Asaba on Friday.

“We have so far distributed about 2 million PVCs but we still have about 200,000 PVCs that are not yet distributed.
“Though distribution has officially stopped, for those who had applied for transfer, they can come forward to collect their PVCs,” he said.

He said the commission had also commenced the distribution of sensitive materials, adding that all non-sensitive materials had arrived various local government areas.

“We are prepared for the elections and what we are moving now are sensitive materials; we have concluded everything about non-sensitive materials.

Mr. Ikoiwak urged the people of the state to support the commission to deliver free, fair and credible elections on Saturday.

He said that everything had been put in place to ensure that all the local government areas, including the riverine areas, got their materials on time.

Mr. Ikoiwak said that about 20,000 ad-hoc staff would be deplored directly part from the INEC personnel who would supervise, monitor the exercise.

He said INEC would operate from about 270 security camps where the materials would be kept under tight security and advised against election violence, stressing that snatching of ballot boxes would not work.
