A group, South-South Actualization Movement for Muhammadu Buhari, has asked the All Progressives Congress, APC, to pick the former head of state, as its presidential candidate, saying his credentials are more impressive than those of other aspirants.

Other aspirants on the party’s platform, apart from Mr. Buhari, are a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State, and the founder of the Leadership newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.

The party’s presidential primary election is scheduled for December 8.

In a statement jointly signed its National Leader, Ufuoma Atsiangbe, National Leader, Ben Okoro and Coordinator in Bayelsa State, Tony Garoro, on Thursday, the group said Nigeria was bedevilled with a lot of challenges, which only Mr. Buhari could fix.

Noting that Nigeria is a great nation uniquely amalgamated with diverse ethnicity and religion, bonded with a spirit of hard work and faith on a united Nigeria, the group said the country had, however, witnessed a major drift from those factors in the last five years.

It also claimed that corruption had established a stronghold in the country while security of lives and properties was now completely beyond government control.

The group also said unemployment had risen to an alarming rate and hardworking youth had nothing to show for their academic success, but that crime -oriented youth were now being rewarded by the government and lured with lucrative contracts, monthly salaries and foreign/overseas training.

It noted that the Nigerian Government had not helped the hardworking entrepreneurs that needed just a regular and dependable electricity to take the nation to an industrialized state.

“In the light of the above, history now beckon on General Mohammed Buhari (GMB) to answer the patriotic call of service by millions of Nigerians,” the group said.

“We the entire members of South-South Project Actualisation Movement for GMB are sending a strong message to the leadership of APC and also wish to put the leadership of APC on notice based on recent development and the forth coming presidential election.

“It is the millions of APC members across the country and those non-APC members but want APC to take over governance through GMB that will vote for APC.”

The group asked the leadership of APC should bury their selfish and individual interests capable of denying Nigerians the benefit of quality leadership Mr. Buhari would provide.

It said among the presidential aspirants since 1999, only the former head of state had been preparing to govern the country with clear vision and direction.

It said, “We want to state categorically without fear or favour that it is on record that GMB remains the only presidential candidate that has been preparing and ready to govern our dear country with a clear vision and direction compare to the accidental and unprepared Presidents we have had since 1999.

“It is on record that within 6 months to a general election, GMB was able to garner 12million votes with his CPC party even when he was unable to form an alliance with the then ACN party as a result of individual’s selfish interest.

“In any alliance or political party, wisdom and common sense dictates that the popular candidate with the highest support from the populace is presented to fly its flag from a consensus arrangement that will accommodate all aspirants while the rest of the party faithful provides the necessary support for such candidate.”
