Suspected gang members on Sunday evening went on rampage in Malali, a community in Kaduna State, attacking residents.
The violence is believed to be gang-related with residents saying the attackers were from Badarawa, and that they attacked residents of Unguwan Gado in Malali area of the state.
Umma Dauda, a resident of the area, said the gang came in revenge of the killing of one of its members.
“We are running here. You can hear police shooting at the angry youth. But they are not bulging. It is serious now,” the resident said in a panic tone on the phone while gun shots could be heard.
Armed police officers were seen driving to the area to disperse the attackers.
Another resident, Adamu Malam, told PREMIUM TIMES that he saw two people who were in a pool of blood while others ran for their lives.
The Kaduna police spokesperson did not answer calls to his phone at the time of this report.
However, a member of the Kaduna vigilante group who was at the scene, told PREMIUM TIMES that the attackers have been dispersed and some arrest made by the police.
The latest incident occurs few days after two people were killed in violence in Kwaru and Unguwar Yero communities in the state. Both communities are close to the scene of today’s violence.
The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, visited families of the victims and thereafter declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the two communities.
