A nursing mother, Hauwa’u Ibrahim, on Wednesday dragged Maibulala Rabiu to a Shari’a Court at Magajin Gari Kaduna and asked the judge to order him to pay her monthly allowance after their ‘divorce’.
According to her, she wants him (Maibulala) to be giving her allowance for breastfeeding their eight month boy, Sulaiman.
Hauwa’u told the court that her husband divorced her on July 31 and since then “she has been taking care of their little child without support from him”.
“He verbally divorced me, so I want the court to ask him to put it in writing and to also be giving me monthly allowance for breastfeeding his son,” she said.
The judge, Musa Goma, after listening to her asked for the husband’s response.
“Yes, I did divorce her and she is the mother of my child. I am not working but I will try to be giving her N3000 monthly as breastfeeding allowance, ” he told the court.
Mr Goma then granted her requests.
He asked the estranged husband to put his divorce in writing as well as pay her a monthly stipend of N3000 for the breastfeeding of his son. He is also to take care of health and clothing expenses of the young child.
