Inuwa Wada, the Magajin Gari of Kano, has died.
Aged 98, Mr. Wada died in the early hours of Wednesday at his Durbin Iya residence in Kano metropolis after a protracted illness.
Nasir Wada, one of his sons, said his father died around 6 a.m.
He said the late Mr. Wada was survived by one wife, many children and grandchildren.
Mr.Wada was a member of the House of Representatives during the First Republic.
He was also a Minister of Works and later Minister of Defence during the First Republic.
Mr. Wada, who was an uncle to the former Head of State, late General Murtala Muhammed, was said to be one of the powerful cabinet members in the First Republic. (NAN)
