Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has distributed some items to some women groups, Torrey Home, VVF Centre and Elderly Home in Kano.
The items were first distributed to women associations in the 44 local governments of the state.
Mrs. Buhari distributed bags of rice and cartons of tomato paste. Representing Mrs. Buhari, the wife of a former military administrator of Kaduna State, Zainab Isah, said the first lady takes the welfare of women and children, especially orphans very seriously.
“The wife of Mr. President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has directed me to announce to you that she is always happy to be associated with your welfare and happiness in life,” Mrs. Isah said.
She said Mrs. Buhari was happy with the recipients because the elected her husband as president.
“This shows how committed you are in searching for lasting solutions for the age-long, perennial problems facing our great country Nigeria,” she stated.
Mrs. Isah said Mrs. Buhari bought the items with the donations she received during her husband’s presidential campaign.
“She decided that something substantial should be used to assist the weak among us,” she emphasised.
Responding on behalf of the Kano women, one of the women, Najaatu Mohammed, thanked the first lady and described the gesture as a global phenomenon where campaign donations could also be used to help elderly and vulnerable ones.
