The outgoing Governor of Kebbi State, Saidu Dakingari, and the outgoing Secretary to State Government, Garba Kamba, were conspicuously absent at the swearing-in/handing over ceremony of the newly elected Governor, Atiku Bagudu, and his deputy, Samaila Yombe.
Mr. Dakingari was supposed to perform the handing over of instrument of office to the new governor. He was to be assisted by his SSG.
The State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress and Master of Ceremony of the event, Sani Dododo, announced that neither Mr. Dakingari, nor the SSG were present.
The ceremony continued without the outgoing officials, as the Kebbi State Chief of Justice, Bala Mairiga, administered the Oath of Office to the new Deputy Governor, Samaila Yombe, and then to the New Governor Atiku Bagudu.
The outgoing Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Aliyu, however, made an un-ceremonial appearance and quickly presented the handing-over note to the new governor amid booing from a mammoth crowd at the Haliru Abdu Stadium.
Security personnel experienced hard task controlling the mammoth crowd who climbed the podium and the VIP section of the arena.
Crowds pushed by security agents and dismantled shed where journalists were stationed. This resulted in a stampede that forced all journalists to scamper for safety.
Normalcy was, however, restored.
