APC wins Kebbi governorship election

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, was Sunday night declared winner of the governorship election held in the state.

The state Collation Officer, Mohammed Ahmed, while declaring the result at Na’amo Hall, Waziri Umar Federal Polytechnic, venue of the Governorship Collation Centre in Birnin Kebbi, said Mr. Bagudu won in 19 out of the 21 Local government Areas, with 477,376 total votes.

Sarkin-Yaki Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party came second, winning in two LGAs with 293,443 votes, he said.

The Director General, PDP governorship campaign organization, Isah Mohammed, while reacting to the outcome of the election said: “The election has come and gone and the party is studying the situation from our field officers, then we will make up our minds either to live with the results or reject it.”

But the DG, APC governorship campaign organization and former deputy governor of the state, Suleiman Argungu, while responding to PDP comment said: “In every contest, certainly there must be a winner and a loser and this is a very clear win, particularly with the recent introduction of the Card Reader. So, it a victory that you cannot contest even in the tribunal or any court of law because INEC has made every bit of the exercise very transparent”.

The APC deputy governor-elect, Samaila Yombe, who spoke on behalf of the Governor-elect, said the outcome of the election was the peoples’ verdict and called on the PDP to accept defeat.

“People want change and they voted for change and people should also expect positive change from the new government,” he added.
