The Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, Ishaq Bashir, has advised the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to form a government of national unity where other parties are included.
Mr. Bashir said Mr. Buhari needed to do so in order to have divergent ideas and contributions from professionals across Nigeria.
“General Buhari should be resolute, patient, and firm in taking decisions that is why we decided to vote for him although we are a different part,” Mr. Bashir said.
He said the PDM had supported the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the presidential elections.
“We knew who Buhari is and we knew what he can do, but despite his doggedness he still requires a competent team to be able to achieve and succeed in his government,” he said.
Mr. Bashir criticised the outgoing governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying while the APC government had achieved in some areas, there were several untouched areas.
“How can you build a fly over with such a high amount of money?” Mr. Bashir asked. “Or some five kilometer roads in each of the 44 local government areas (where) money has been paid and the job has not been done; or you just spent people’s money in the names of providing street light for them at a high cost.”
