Following the emergence of the Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate for the 2015 elections, the state chairman of the party, Abubakar Haruna, has declared that the All Progressive Congress candidate, Nasir El-Rufai is no threat to PDP’s chances at the election.
“APC is a contraband product which does not exist in Kaduna State,” Mr. Haruna said.
The chairman, who was accompanied by other members of the party’s executive, stated this while addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalist, secretariat, Kaduna State Council.
He said the PDP would continue to rule till ‘thy kingdom come’ and as far as democracy existed, the primaries in the state were transparent, free and fair.
“The APC does not have a manifesto of its own, but a duplicate of the PDP’s document,” he said.
“There was nothing like imposition of candidates. Everybody bought form to aspire for positions of their choice. None of the applicants ever approached the state secretariat to lodge complaints regarding the process that saw Yero and other aspirants emerging victorious at the end of the day.
“The game of politics is the game of who is strong enough. It is now left for the delegates, you could have money, and be good you could not even have money and you can be good what has happened first is the determination of the leadership of the party not to involve themselves in money siphoning from aspirants, you allow delegates to go and do their duty.”
He appealed to the media to report good things about Nigeria.
“I want to appeal to you, the media to, please, make Nigeria grow by a way of presenting it in positive terms to the outside world, but if it refuses to grow, then Nigeria journalists have done that,” he said.
