A gubernatorial aspirant in Kastina State, Abdullahi Tsauri, has declared that the state governor, Ibrahim Shema, is afraid of him.
Mr. Tsauri was last week prevented from declaring his interest to contest the 2015 gubernatorial elections in the state.
Mr. Tsauri, however, held a political rally in Kano on Thursday where he said Mr. Shema was afraid of him because he freed people from the bondage of poverty.
“Shema gains obedience by subjecting people to poverty and devastating woes of economic uncertainty; however, when I come, I freely give to the poor and he is afraid,” Mr. Tsauri said. “By my action and with people looking unto me for survival and their reprieve, Ibrahim Shema think I aim to run an opposition government that is why he did all he could to stop me.”
Mr. Tsauri alleged that last week, to prevent him from declaring his interest, Mr. Shema had his plane grounded and tear-gassed his people and this resulted in the death of a woman.
He said whether Mr. Shema liked it or not, if God had decided that he would be the next governor of Katsina State, he would be.
“But the greatest problem of Shema is realizing that I come from the same area as him, Dutsinma,” Mr. Tsauri explained. “Now, if I become governor, I kill him politically because he cannot get any appointment from the federal government.”
He said Mr. Shema was somebody ready to do all he could in order to get what he wants.
“Today, he is afraid that the focus of Katsina people is shifting away from him to me and that his government is no longer relevant because all along he tried to cage his people by putting them in serious poverty.”
Mr. Tsauri said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had the choice of him, the oldest gubernatorial aspirant in the state from 2011 to date, and the governor who had lost relevance.
He said that his supporters had contributed the N20million he needed to purchase the expression of interest form and he had gathered them in Kano to inform them he had purchased the form.
