As the 2015 general elections draw near, the Kaduna Governor, Mukhtar Yero, on Wednesday submitted a letter of intent to contest the governorship seat of Kaduna State.
Mr. Yero, who was at the Kaduna State Secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to formally hand-over the letter to the Party Chairman, Abubakar Haruna, said the decision to contest is informed by pressure mounted on him by “people” to run.
He said he had to accept the call because of the need to consolidate on the relative peace achieved in the state under his administration.
“I can’t say no to the wish of people when they called on me to contest. It would be a great disservice to them,” Mr. Yero stated.
Though the governor said he is yet to formally declare, he assured his supporters that he would do so after consultation with other members of the party and indigenes of the state.
In his remark after receiving the letter from the governor, the party Chairman said the party members are happy that he finally signified interest to contest.
