The Kaduna State Government has released N116 million for the purchase of Ebola Virus Disease testing equipment to be deployed at all schools after resumption.
The fund was released to the newly-inaugurated Ebola steering committee under the leadership of the deputy governor, Nuhu Bajoga.
The equipment will be used in schools and hospitals in the all 23 local government of the state, the state Commissioner of Education said.
Mr. Ali said in a statement that already 13,000 teachers have been trained on the prevention of the dreaded virus ahead of the September 22 resumption date for primary and post primary schools.
“The state also has acquired about 10,000 thermometers for onward distribution to private and primary schools across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state. We also urged participants to ensure strict compliance amongst staff and students,” Mr. Ali said.
A spokesperson for Governor Ramalan Yero who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES said the state has since sent a standard case definition of Ebola alert to all general hospitals in the state.
“Communities have also been encouraged to keep their environment clean and go to the nearest hospital for proper check in case of serious health issues as the government have since provided medical facilities to check the Ebola sickness and other health issues,” said the Ahmed Maiyaki, who is the director general, media and publicity, to the state governor.
Kaduna State recorded its first Ebola panic when a student of Ahmadu Bello University was who had high fever was suspected of the disease. Tests proved he was negative.
