Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, sets up committee on Ebola

The Kano State Emirate Council, under the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has set up an Emirate Council Ebola Enlightenment Committee, to sensitise the 44 local Government District Heads as well as Jumaat Mosques Imams and other similar bodies in the state on the disease.

The committee, which has the mandate of going to all parts of the state to enlighten the people, is chaired by Shaawa Saad and has 16 other members.

A member of the committee, Tijjani Ahmad of Freedom Radio, a local Radio Station in Kano, told Premium Times, that as part of the committee’s way of achieving its objective, it had already scheduled a workshop for the 44 District Heads in the state.

He said the district heads are expected to transmit the messages they received from the workshop to their village heads and community leaders who will now in turn send town criers to every corner of Kano with the messages.

Mr. Ahmad said the enlightenment programme would teach district heads, village heads and community leaders how to treat a possible Ebola patient, how to look into possible outbreak, and how to avoid things that can lead to the disease.

He said the committee would however not deal with Ebola alone. It would also communicate messages about communicable diseases such as measles and polio.

Smart thinking. See what happens when an intelligent professional takes charge of any institution of authority. Such individuals become a force for good of the majority. I hope our sleeping president who never ever seem to wake up to any responsibility unless of course it involves PDP and intimidating the people, can learn a few lessons on how to be proactive from the Kano Emirate Council and of course from Lagos state. At times, it just looks like out of the 36 states there is only one governor that seems to be awake at all: Fashola. The rest are busy stealing, drinking, fighting everything that wont agree to their contemptible ways, womanizing and partying, playing god with state money-you hear it all the time, governor A gives 2 million naira cash to a woman he told to go and die for trying to make a living on a side of the street.
Nigerian governors are worse than Boko Haram because they kill the people who voted for them, the people who put all their trust in the, they steal from the people they are paid to protect. At least we know Boko Haram as terrorists and criminals and no one elected them or pays them to govern anyone
