The police are on the hunt for the suspects.
The Zamfara Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the stealing of 20 camels on Saturday by suspected gunmen at Kawaye Village of Anka Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Lawal Abdullahi, said this in Gusau while addressing journalists.
He said the Divisional Police Officer of the area had been instructed to arrest the suspects.
The police spokesperson gave assurance that the police would continue to ensure the continuous protection of persons and their property.
Mr. Abdullahi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, appealed to the people to always give the police useful information that would lead to the arrest of undesirable elements in the state.
Witnesses in Kawaye told journalists that the gunmen invaded the village on Saturday night, a day after the camel owners arrived in the area.
It was gathered that the camel owners use to come to the village annually to work on sorghum and maize farms, graze their animals before returning to their places of abode.
