There had been an outbreak of cholera in Zamfara.
The Zamfara Government said on Thursday that it received medical items worth N100, 000 from the Federal Government to control the cholera outbreak in the state.
The Acting Governor, Sunusi Rikiji, told journalists in Gusau that the items included two cartons of hand gloves, a carton of ringer lactete and some sets of cholera testing kits.
Mr. Rikiji, who is the Speaker of the House of Assembly, commended the Federal Government for the gesture and the state Ministry of Health for its “wonderful effort’’ at curbing the outbreak.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Kabir Janyau, said the state government received the items on Wednesday through a team from the Federal Ministry of Health.
The Project Manager, National Centre for Disease Control, Abdussalam Nasidi, led the federal delegation.
Mr. Nasidi said that the outbreak had been controlled by about 80 per cent following the deployment of a medical team to provide a 24-hour service to control it.
