Governor Yero of Kaduna commissions projects to mark Democracy Day

The governor said his administration is committed to improving the standard of living of the people of Kaduna State.

As part of activities marking the 2013 Democracy Day Celebration, Governor Mukhtar Yero, Wednesday, commissioned several projects completed by the state government; and also inspected ongoing works.

Speaking when he commissioned the Patrick Yakowa Way and a major bridge linking the southern and northern parts of the State, Mr. Yero said “it is imperative in governance to listen to good advice, ensure continuity and also consolidate on gains of past administrations.”

He said the 10km road and the bridge has now ended hardships previously faced by residents when crossing between the southern and northern parts of the state for their daily activities.

Governor Yero said the project was initiated by Vice President Namadi Sambo during his time as the state governor. It was later awarded by the late Yakowa and completed by the present administration.

The Governor also commissioned 2.8km road at Kudenda which has opened up several communities and also provides access to the 250 megawatts power station located at the area. He also promised to consider building a bridge along the road to further open up the area.

In addition, the Governor commissioned two other roads in Kaduna metropolis rehabilitated through the Kaduna Public Works Agency, KAPWA. The rehabilitated roads are Katuru Road off Sardauna Crescent and Kabala off Constitution Way.

While delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots, the governor commissioned solar powered boreholes at the Our Lady of Fatima Girls Secondary School, Sabon Tasha, and the Central Juma’at Mosque in Ungwar Rimi.

He also inspected ongoing projects at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna, which is being upgraded to a teaching hospital for the Kaduna State University, KASU, Faculty of Medicine. Part of the sections inspected by the governor include theatre rooms, lecture halls and the dialysis centre for treatment of kidney patients.

Speaking at the end of the tour, Mr. Yero reiterated the commitment of his administration to improve the overall living standards of the entire people of the state through consolidating on gains achieved by past administrations and completion of all ongoing projects.
