The Governor said his administration has focused on provision of potable water to residents.
Mr. Yari, who made this known in Gusau on Tuesday while fielding questions from newsmen, said his government had focused on the provision of potable water to communities as it is the social responsibility of the government.
According to him, the government has embarked on various water supply projects in 11 out of the 14 local government areas of the state, adding that plans were underway to soon take care of the other three local governments.
He identified the dredging of the Gusau water barrage and the provision of two underground fresh water plants and reservoirs to complement the barrage in an effort to ensure consistent water supply in the state capital as priority projects.
According to him, the state government has rehabilitated and expanded the Kaura Namoda and Talata Mafara water works, to provide sufficient water to the two towns as well as the neighbouring villages.
He said the state government had already paid up about N4 billion to contractors handling water projects across the state and was awaiting the completion of the projects to pay up the outstanding balance.
The governor further said that the construction of roads, provision of qualitative education and subsidy on agricultural inputs in addition to water supply were his administration’s top priorities.
