The Kano State Governor said the state will not be deterred from fighting polio

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State on Saturday condemned the killing of nine polio workers in the state.

Mr. Kwankwaso, who made the condemnation in a special broadcast, described the attack as shocking. He condoled with the state and the families of the victims and prayed for the souls of the deceased.

He assured the people that “government will not relent in its efforts to treat diseases such HIV/AIDS, polio and malaria throughout the state”.

The governor added that the administration would provide more educational and job opportunities to the teeming youth in the state.

Gunmen attacked some polio immunisation centres in Kano on Friday and killed nine female workers.

The Nigerian Medical Association, through its chapter presidents in Lagos and Gombe, has also condemned the killings.
