The Kaduna Governor stated his disappointment on Friday.

Governor Muhktar Yero of Kaduna State said he is not satisfied with the current level of the state’s Internally

Generated Revenue, IGR, and would reinforce the revenue generating drive of the state.

He expressed his disappointment while playing host to senior partners of C2G Consulting and SAP Africa, led by Onyekachi Uzukane, who were in Government House, Kaduna on a visit.

According to Ahmed Maiyaki, the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Yero stated that the state government will partner with all stakeholders to improve on the IGR.

The governor said the state’s internal revenue has been declining over the years in spite of the fact that the state has all the potentials to raise it.

He said he would like to know the causes and challenges of the IGR.

He asserted that the government is going to fully concentrate on revenue generation by ensuring the prompt and regular payment of tax as well as other revenues due to the state by all concerned.

He urged the public to cooperate with the government as the internal revenue would be used to provide basic social amenities to better their lives.

In a separate development, Governor Yero has challenged Development Area Administrators on improving the lives of people in rural areas.

The governor addressed the administrators on Friday at the government house when they also paid him a courtesy visit.

He promised to release all funds due them but also urged them to come up with blueprints of what projects they would want to embark upon, including the cost implication, so that after the funds were released, independent supervisors can evaluate to see what they were able to achieve.

Mr. Yero warned that anyone who misappropriated any fund would have himself to blame as he would not only be removed, but will be made to face the consequences of his action.

As the closest arm of government to the people, he said their actions can make or mar good governance, so, they should do their best at all times to serve the people.

The 46 administrators were in Government House, Kaduna, to commiserate with the governor over the demise of his predecessor as well as congratulate him and his deputy on their elevations.
