A mobile police corporal was killed in Mabera area of Sokoto.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Nma Kudu, on Thursday confirmed that unknown persons killed a mobile police corporal in Mabera area of Sokoto metropolis on Wednesday.
Mr. Kudu told newsmen in Sokoto that the police has begun investigation into the action to unravel the cause.
“We will leave no stone unturned until we find the killers of the police officer and bring them to book accordingly,” he said.
A suspect has since been arrested in connection with the crime and is helping the police in their investigation.
“The killing has nothing to do with any element of terrorism. It is more or less an in-house crime,” Mr. Kudu said.
He said the deceased did not commit suicide, holding that “he was killed”.
The deceased was with a relative who visited him before his death. The incident happened shortly after the relative went for early morning prayers.
“He only returned to see that the police officer had already been killed,” a source said.
