The former Vice Chancellor of Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Ibrahim Garba, was sacked following the recommendation of a visitation panel, the Kano state governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has said.
Kwankwaso told members of the school’s Students’ Union leaders of the University who had visited to protest the VC’s sack on Saturday that the VC’s sack was ” in the best interest of the university as an institution and the state as a whole.”
“The decision to change the Vice chancellor of the University was done in good faith and,” he said.
The State Government had on Oct. 24, announced the removal of Garba and the appointed Umar Garba Dambatta as acting vice chancellor of the University.
He said even though the State Government enjoyed cordial relationship with the erstwhile vice chancellor, government had to implement the report of a visitation panel to the university, which recommended his replacement.
The students, led by Muhammad Yusuf and Sabi’u Abubakar however, informed the governor the had reservations over the removal of the VC.
