Two persons were killed Sunday evening in Kasa town of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State, the state police command has confirmed.
The deceased were reportedly Fulani men who were returning from the Bukuru cattle market.
The state police spokesperson, Tyopev Terna, confirmed the incident.
“Two people were said to have been killed in Kasa area of Barkin Ladi LGA. Investigation is being carried out to arrest the perpetrators of the act,” he said.
Abubakr Gambo, Secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria (MACBAN), Barkin Ladi, also confirmed the attack to PREMIUM TIMES but accused the native Berom of carrying out the attack.
“The attack was carried out by the Berom in the evening of Sunday when a J-5 vehicle was carrying four persons, two of which were killed. The other two escaped with various degrees of injuries and are presently receiving treatment,” he said.
Mr Gambo added that the incident had been reported to the Police in Barkin Ladi and that ”the DPO had sent officers to the scene of crime”.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Berom Youth Movement, Jatau Gyang, dismissed the allegations.
”I have no knowledge about that. I am just hearing it from you. But it (attack) would not be unconnected to the activities of bandits who usually terrorise the area,” he said when contacted.
The attack is coming two days after three persons were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Zanwar village.
