The Kogi Police Command Public Relations Officer, William Aya, told reporters that Mr Sani was assassinated in his Idah residence in the evening of Tuesday, July 17.
He said that one of the brothers of the late director reported the incident to the police in Idah immediately after the gruesome murder.
Mr Aya said that a police team was dispatched to the scene, adding that investigation is ongoing while the assailants were being trailed.
