The All Progressives Congress, APC, has won the two House of Assembly re-run elections in Plateau State.
For the Pankshin North constituency, APC’s Alice Dimlong got 17,320 votes to defeat PDP’s Diket Plang who got 817 votes. The result was declared by the returning officer, Jeff Godwin, a lecturer at the University of Jos.
Also for Pankshin South, APC’s Gideon Dashe defeated his main challenger, Istifanus Mwansat of the PDP by 110 votes.
Mr. Dashe secured 9,985 votes while his opponent got 9,875 votes in results declared by the electoral official, Chris Vande, also of the University of Jos.
Mr. Mwansat, after announcement of the result, alleged manipulation by the APC and its candidate but said he had not made a decision on appealing the result.
“I contested the election under the platform of the PDP and not as an independent candidate,” he said. “So I cannot take any decision on my own regarding this matter. It is left for my party to sit, consider all these issues and then decide the best line of action to be taken.”
