The candidate of Progressives Peoples Alliance, PPA, in the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Emmanuel Ozigi, has denied reports that he had withdrawn from the race alongside some governorship candidates.
Mr. Ozigi’s media office on Wednesday asked all his supporters to disregard the rumours making the rounds that other contestants had stepped down for the duo of Governor Idris Wada of the PDP and former Governor Abubakar Audu of the APC.
“Next week’s election is going to be a battle between the oppressed and the oppressor, the poor and the rich,” the media office said in a statement.
The office said neither Mr. Wada nor Mr. Audu was the Messiah of the Kogi people.
The statement also said Mr. Ozigi was the best qualified among the contestants to take Kogi State to greatness.
“We urge members of the public to switch off from media hype that some candidates have stepped down for either Capt. Idris Wada or Prince Abubakar Audu.
“The idea was to create an erroneous impression that the election is a two horse race.
“As far as we are concerned, Emmanuel Ozigi is the third force in the governorship election and the game changer.
“The supposedly big masquerades have missed their steps and should leave the stage for genuine leaders with positive intent to take over and shape the destiny of our dear state,” said the office.
The campaign office said Mr. Ozigi was poised to shock other candidates by his performance during the forthcoming polls.
“Ozigi is in this race to win. He believes he has the will and the requisite experience to lead Kogi to prosperity, empowerment and national respect.
“With his agenda for education, agricultural revolution, healthcare delivery, infrastructural development and empowerment, Ozigi has remained the toast of Kogi voters,” the office said.
