Some gunmen in the early hours on Friday shot and killed four people in Rakung village, Barakinladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The spokesperson of the Police Command in Jos confirmed the incident via telephone to PREMIUM TIMES, but could not ascertain the casualty level.
A witness, Dachollom Gyang, gave the names of the victims as Pam Babel, Solome Pam, Luka Gyang and Joy Toma.
According to Mr. Gyang, the gunmen were speaking Fulfude, the language spoken by the Fulani.
Meanwhile, residents in the area lamented that distress calls to security operatives attached to Rakung village went unanswered.
Last week, a community leader, Ezekiel Mandyan, disclosed that Gashish district in Barkinladi local government lost over 160 people in three years, from 17 communities through sporadic attacks without the arrest of any suspect.
