Barely 24 hours to the governorship elections, in Kaduna, nine candidates have stepped down for Nasir El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress.
The candidates, who spoke at a press conference in Kaduna Thursday, said their decision to step down for Mr. El-Rufai was informed by the former minister’s fortitude to make Kaduna stand out among other states in Nigeria.
The candidates include, Mohammed Ribadu of APA, Nayaya Lawal of PDC, Sani Abdulkadir of NNPP, Garba Suleiman of ACPN, Isa Abdullahi of NCP and Bala Mohammed Yunusa of ADC.
Others were Mohammed Ahmed of PPN, Lawal Yusuf of UPN and Katie Jibril of PPA.
“Before taking this decision to join El-Rufai, we consulted our supporters and members of the National Executive Council of our various parties and finally agreed on this stand,” they said.
Now, only three candidates will slug it out for the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House tomorrow
: James Magaji (Labour Party), Mr. El-Rufai and the incumbent, Ramalan Yero (PDP).
