Bauchi State Police Command has commenced the prosecution of 17 recruits employed into the police service with fake certificates.
The command’s spokesman, Hassan Mohammed, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Thursday, said 32 other suspects were being investigated.
The 49 were among the recent successful entrants into the Police Training School at Yelwa in Bauchi metropolis.
He, therefore, warned those aspiring to join the police to ensure that they possess genuine certificates.
“They were arraigned to court for criminal conspiracy and impersonation, and investigations are still going on to unravel the criminal status of those still in custody,” he said.
Mr. Mohammed further stated that the screening exercise would continue in order to fish out those breaching the requirements for recruitment, for appropriate punishment.
