The Police in Benue on Monday arrested a serving commissioner in the state and three other people over an alleged attack on the residence of a Permanent Secretary, Tivlumun Nyitse. Mr. Nyitse, who is the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Makurdi, had his country home at Guma attacked on Saturday by thugs, said to be searching for electoral materials for the PDP ward congresses.
The thugs were said to have attacked security guards in the house, smashed windows and wounded some people while searching for the materials for Uvii ward in Guma Local Government Area of the state.
The thugs had accused the permanent secretary of hoarding the materials to manipulate the election.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ejike Alaribe, told newsmen in Makurdi that the four were being questioned on suspicion of sponsoring the attack.
He, however, declined to give the names of the four suspects but said investigation into the matter was continuing.
