Authorities of Adamawa State Polytechnic confirmed that eight students of the institution died in the October 23 Mosque blast.

The blast took place during the opening ceremony of a Juma’at Mosque located at the School of Engineering of the institution in Jambutu.

The clarification was made through a press release signed by the information officer of the institution, Albert Matilah, and made available to journalists on Monday.

Mr. Matilah said so far, out of the 25 casualties of the bomb blast from the institution, only four students and two staff are currently on admission.

He said in the aftermath of the bomb blast, security around all campuses of the institution was beefed and thorough search is conducted on every one entering the school.

Mr. Matilah said the school authority pledged to assist victims on admission in the specialist hospital and Federal Medical Center, Yola and offer free medical treatment by the institution’s Health Insurance Providers.

He urged the students to be security conscious while on campus and report any suspicious person or items.

The school authority also promised to identify and pay condolence visits on the families of the dead students.
