The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, said on Wednesday that 197 people have died in 172 road accident cases in Bauchi, Yobe and Borno States in 2015.
The corps said 739 people more were injured during the same period.
The three states are under zone 12 of the FRSC, headed by Luka Ikpi.
Mr. Ikpi said the deaths occurred between January and August 2015.
He said the command was working to increase public awareness to help minimise the spate of road accidents in the area.
In this regard, he said the FRSC was partnering with churches and mosques to help disseminate information to the people on road use.
The campaign focuses on informing road users on the dangers of excessive speed, safety measures for pedestrians, passengers and children as well as instructions on how to drive safely in the rain.
