The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed April 25 for the conduct of the governorship supplementary elections in nine local government areas of Taraba State.
The contest will be between the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Darius Ishaku, and that of the All Progressives Congress, Aisha Alhassan.
The commission’s Head of Public Affairs, Fabian Yame, disclosed this in Jalingo on Tuesday.
The Taraba State returning officer for governorship election, Muhammadu Kyari, had declared the election inconclusive after collating the results from 16 out of the 17 local government areas of the state.
He explained that he took the action because the number of cancelled votes was above the gap between the PDP candidate who came first and the APC candidate who came second.
Mr. Ishaku polled 317,198 votes while Mrs. Alhassan got 262,386.
According to the list made available to PREMIUM TIMES in Jalingo, the supplementary elections will hold in 165 polling units in Donga Local Government Area with over 85,657 registered voters.
Other councils that had their votes cancelled are Bali, Karim-Lamido, Takum, Ussa, Wukari, Yorro and Zing.
