Taraba police, INEC ready for elections

The police in Taraba said ​their personnel​​ and ​those from ​other security agencies are fully ready for the task ahead in the governorship election as over 7,000 operatives have been deployed to all polling units across the state.

The police spokesperson, Joseph Kwage, disclosed this to PREMIUM TIMES in Jalingo .

“We are very prepared to protect lives and properties at every polling unit in the state,”Mr. Kwage said. “We have drafted security personnel to all places. We have reviewed our performances in the presidential election and we have have taken care of areas we need to and I can assure you that with the combined effort, those who plan to cheat or create problem will be dealt with.”

Mr. Kwage also said all the non-sensitive and sensitive materials have gotten to their destinations.

He assured the people of the state the police would do every thing possible to ensure that the election is violent-free.

“As I speak to you now, we have not received any reported incident of wrong doing,” Mr. Kwage said.

The INEC spokesperson, Fibian Vwanhi, comfirmed that all electoral materials have reached their destinations and INEC officials are “fully ready for this national assignment.”
