The All Progressives Congress in Adamawa has raised alarm over a gang of gunmen robbing people believed to be APC supporters of their Permanent Voter Cards.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Phineas Padio, made this known Wednesday in Yola while speaking to journalists.
Mr. Padio said a gang of four armed men on Monday night visited the resident of an APC campaigner, Hauwa Liman, at Jambutu ward of Yola and asked her and other residents of the compound to surrender their PVCs at gun point.
“They also warned her against campaigning for APC with a threat that if she carries on they will kill her.
“As a party, we have petitioned the state Commissioner of Police and copied the Inspector General of Police, the AIG in charge of Zone 3, the state Director of SSS as well as INEC”, Mr. Padio said.
He described the attack as politically motivated and claimed that some people worried about the popularity of APC candidates in the state were out to frustrate their victories at all cost.
He urged supporters of the party not to be intimidated and to remain steadfast in their commitment to vote for the party.
Mr. Padio urged APC supporters who were unsure of the safety of their PVC to take it to the bank for safe keeping.
When contacted on the development, the Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, said he was yet to be briefed about the robbery of PVCs.
