PDP picks Jatau as Bauchi governorship candidate

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bauchi state has elected Awwal Jatau as its candidate for the 2015 governorship election.

Mr. Jatau polled 368 votes in an election held overnight at the Multipurpose centre in Bauchi.

A former Minister of State for Health, Ali Pate, got 86 votes, Babayo Gamawa got 116 votes, while Bappa Azare and Adamu Gumba got 3 and 20 votes respectively

A former Secretary to the Federal Government, SGF, Yayale Ahmed, withdrew from the race on the eve of the election.

In all, 842 delegates were accredited for the election. 

There were nine invalid votes.
