The deputy chairman of the Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Aminu Jahun, has urged the party’s national headquarters to sanction all the senators seeking automatic tickets.
Mr. Jahun told PREMIUM TIMES in Kano that Senators hell-bent on obtaining automatic tickets had nothing to show for their years in office and that they were fully representing their people.
He said the issue of automatic ticket was clearly against the democratic ideal as after serving for four to even 12 years one should believe there were other capable contestants.
Mr. Jahun asked his party, the PDP, and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to minimize their political activities and concentrate on solving the critical security issues that have nearly crippled the entire North.
He said by harping on the 2015 general elections, in the midst of the crisis, both parties were demonstrating a clear lack of human feeling and undemocratic attitudes.
He pointed out that if one third of what was happening in Nigeria, happened in a more developed country, everything would be suspended until the problems were solved.
