Boko Haram: Angry youth burn district head’s office over suspension of Imam

Several youth protesting the removal of the chief imam of the Jimeta Juma’at Mosque, in Yola, Adamawa State, Sufiyanu Adamu, on Friday set fire to the office of the District Head of Jimeta, Ibrahim Baba-Paris.

The angry youth insisted that they would not accept the removal of the imam by the district head as it was based on the imam’s criticism of the government’s poor handling of the current security situation in the state.

The imam’s criticism came during a special prayer session for peace last week.

Trouble started after worshippers trooped to the mosque on Friday only to learn of the imam’s suspension by the district head.

Some youths then headed to the district head’s office and set it ablaze. They were about storming his home but were prevented by security agents and some opinion leaders who pleaded with them.

“We will no longer condone injustice by leaders who think we must not express ourselves in the face of injustice,” one of the protesters, Bello Sufi said. “Why should the district head feel offended because the imam spoke the mind of the majority as far as this insecurity is concerned.”

Several efforts to get the district head to react to the development was not successful as he had reportedly been rushed to an unknown destination for his safety by security agents.

When contacted, the Adamawa state Police Command spokesperson, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the incident but said he was yet to get details on the incident.

Mr. Abubakar, however, said the situation was now under control.

These useless youths should join Boko Haram and liberate the rest of their sharia states. The longer they wait the more Federal troops kill their people. They should save the fiery imam, they need him for moral boosting. I believe he is a seasoned imam who knows how to cut the throats of infidels. Peace in that hopeless place means good Muslims living side by side with infidels, apostates and pagans. The holy Qur-an forbids such unwholesome cohabitation. Allahu Akbar.

Truth is bitter, our leaders don’t want to hear it. They prefer Rogues in Robes that will praise them and pray for them to keep destroying the country by stealing us dry.

Let it be known, to those dancing, high spirited and
declaring politicians, that their hopes may be
shattered. I have said it before, at least amidst
those who are close to me, that the 2015 general
election may not hold and i said “mark my words”.
With the gallant, though futile, efforts of our military boys in-spite of d fact that they are ill-equipped to
match their foes, they die in their numbers each and
every day. We’ve seen military interventions in
some parts of Africa- that’s a signal that that our
country may not be spared from such occurrence-
though it be my desire, Or is the wanton recklessness and the shenanigans of our politician
not enough to desire such? Coupled with terrible
impunity. I was a bit reluctant to submit my thought
publicly at first- most especially on a platform like
dis. I was very happy when i heard the reasoning
and thought of that erudite lawyer, Mr Falana ,when he was speaking at a public lecture, i was less
surprised because our thinking and reasoning
aligned at all points. Should i start from the terrible
massacre of the more than 49 innocent school
children in the North recently? Still my president
took to the square the next day in dancing, all in the name of declaration. Is it the capturing of the towns
and military bases in some parts of the North? Even
The town of our CDS wasn’t spared in the face of
that madness. Again, is it the daily rancorous
vituperative exchanges between the so called giant
political parties?. I am not an agent of doom, but i only fear for the insensitivity of our rulers- not
leaders. if u share my though, pls align wit me, but
be mindful not to be held and charged for sedition, watever.
Our innocent mum will not forgive us if such occurs
    from our doing.
