Adamawa Assembly approves 50 special advisers for Acting Governor

Ahmad Fintiri, Adamawa acting governor

The request was granted at the plenary, after a letter on the issue was read by the acting Speaker , Kwamoti Laori.

Though he will be in office for less than three months as Adamawa acting governor, Umaru Fintiri has gotten approval to appoint 50 Special Advisers.

The Adamawa House of Assembly on Monday approved Mr. Fintiri’s request to appoint the 50 Special Advisers that would assist him in running the affairs of the state.

The request was granted at the plenary, after a letter on the issue was read by the acting Speaker , Kwamoti Laori.

Jerry Kundisi (PDP-Gombi) had moved the motion for the approval of the request, and was seconded by Juggal Abdulkarim (PDP-Shelleng).

Mr. Kundisi had argued that since the acting governor would run the state without necessarily appointing commissioners, there was need to grant his request to appoint Special Advisers.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Adamu Kamale (PDP-Michika), has said that the delay in communicating the removal of former Governor Murtala Nyako to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was because members went on recess.

He explained that members had gone on three weeks recess, to enable some of them, including the Acting Speaker, attend Commonwealth Parliamentarian Association (CPA) meeting in Tanzania.

Mr. Kamale said that the House had just resumed and INEC would be communicated without further delay.
The INEC said recently that it was yet to receive any formal communication from Adamawa Assembly on the removal of former governor Murtala Nyako.

Following the impeachment of Mr. Nyako and the resignation of his deputy; Mr. Fintiri, who was speaker, became Acting Governor and will be in office for a maximum of three months during which INEC is expected to conduct elections for a new governor.
