The octogenarian died on Sunday in her residence after a brief illness.
The only female village head in Adamawa, Ma-Astadikko Buba, is dead.
Ms. Buba was the village head of Dimgeb in Sugu District of Ganye Chiefdom in Ganye Local Government Area.
She was appointed the Nya-Gangwou (village head) of Dimgeb on May 1, 2005.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of Ganye Traditional Council, Ishaku Babidi, said the octogenarian died on Sunday in her residence after a brief illness.
Her actual age was not given because it is forbidden by tradition to do so.
Mr. Babidi said the deceased was “a spiritual leader and was buried according to Chamba (tribe) traditional rites”.
Dimgeb village had been ruled by successive female leaders for decades following the superstition that male leaders would not last more than three months on the throne.
