The party accused the Nigerian Police of implicitly endorsing PDP’s disregard of the ban on airport rallies.
The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the statement credited to President Goodluck Jonathan that he visited the state to champion the freedom of the people from political and socio-economic oppression as uninformed and hypocritical.
“It is hypocritical for a President who coordinated the disqualification of an incumbent governor from participating in the state primaries for the governorship elections in Bayelsa State on 18th of November,2011 to now pride himself as ‘champion of freedom’ to Kwarans,” the party said in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Sulymon Buhari.
Kwara APC faulted Mr. Jonathan’s assertion that he does not care how his home State of Bayelsa is being governed, accusing him of imposing “his lackey on the good people of Bayelsa State against all known democratic tenets”.
Mr. Jonathan had on Tuesday led a powerful delegation of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to Ilorin where he received some politicians who defected to the party. He stated that the PDP is the only platform that guarantees equal participation for all in governance.
The Kwara APC accused the president of misinforming Nigerians about the true situation of the polity in Kwara, saying the people of the state have decided to pitch their tent with the APC.
“The last time Mr President visited, he came to campaign for votes. Kwarans voted for him through the support of our Leaders; Senator Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed. Three years after, Kwarans expect commissioning of impactful federal projects and programs not campaign for 2015 elections. PDP is a party of jesters.
“The correlation between those promises on 22nd of February, 2011 and the reality now in Kwara State on service delivery is ZERO which can only secure a secondary school student F9 in any subject”.
Mr. Buhari said the “PDP prides its strength in Kwara State on a crowd of majorly PDP members from Niger, Kogi, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos states – Goodluck to them. They will soon wake up to the reality,”
Again PDP flouts Police Ban on Airport gatherings
Kwara state APC also called to question the professionalism of the Nigerian Police who it said once again looked away while PDP members flouted its ban on airport rallies.
“We reiterate our initial stand that the Police Command should stop selective enforcement of its rules,” the party said.
The APC challenged the PDP leadership to point to the benefits the state had gained from the federal government since the last election. The party said corruption and insecurity are thriving under the PDP government, describing it as being the resultant effect of bad Leadership.
“We assure the good people of Kwara State that the administration of Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed will continue its renewed determination to expand opportunities for our people through unprecedented socio-economic capital projects and programs that cut across the State,” It said
