The party set up an appeal committee to look into the petitions, the Interim Chairman said.
The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Nasarawa State said it received over 50 petitions from individuals and groups, challenging the results of chairmanship primaries conducted in the state.
The Interim Committee Chairman of the party in the state, Stanley Buba, stated this in Lafia on Wednesday.
“We have received over 50 complaints from aggrieved members across the 13 local government areas of the state calling for redress of the primary elections.
Mr. Buba said in response to the petitions, the party had to set up an appeal committee to look into the petitions and complaints by the aggrieved members.
He said this became necessary to unite the members for the peace, progress and development of the party.
“In their petitions, most of the aggrieved members are challenging the outcome of the primary elections because they are not satisfied with the results announced by the leadership of the party in the state.
“I want to assure them that the appeal committee of the party will be fair and just in handling their cases for the overall development of the party.
“I earlier blamed the delay in the announcement of the results of the primary elections on human factors which included over-voting and violence in some areas.
“Some supporters also complained about the delay in the release of the results.
“We finally announced the results of the primaries after scrutiny, and looked into the issues of over-voting, hoodlums, and violence in some polling units across the state,” he said.
Mr. Buba called on the aggrieved members to remain calm, patient and to respect constituted authority, adding that their complaints would be looked into objectively.
“I also want to call on the party faithful in the state to work in harmony and tirelessly to ensure the success of the party during the March 22 local government elections in the state,” he said.
He reinstated the commitment of the party leadership to initiate good policies that would bring speedy development to the party, and called on the people to live in peace and unity irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
The APC primaries were conducted between February 7 and 8, while the results for chairmanship primaries were announced on February 15.
