Over 500 people were displaced from the Tiv communities.
Governor Umaru Al – Makura of Nasarawa State has donated N2 million and relief materials to members of the Tiv communities presently taking refuge in Kadarko and Agyaragu area of Obi Local Government Area as a result of the recent Ombatse crisis that engulfed the southern senatorial district of the state.
Presenting the items in a short ceremony in Jenkwe development area secretariat, Mr. Al-Makura said that government will do its best to ensure that security is provided within the shortest possible time to enable them return to their homes.
Mr. Al-Makura promised the over 500 displaced persons that his administration will do all it can to fish out those behind the senseless killing of innocent citizens in the state. He said the federal government has deployed troops to the state to help restore peace and normalcy there.
“I am highly disturbed by the situation my brothers find themselves in, but I can assure you that we are all together in the cause of bringing new life to our state and our people, we will not rest until we do jusitce to you,” he said.
A survivor who narrated his ordeal, Zamani Barna, pleaded with government to provide relief materials to the affected communities to assist in rebuilding their houses that were destroyed in the violence.
He said that he lost all he had in the crisis.
Other materials donated include mats, blankets, mattresses, food items, and detergents.
