The Plateau State command of the Nigeria Police has paraded two men arrested for allegedly killing their children for money making rituals.
Parading the suspects before journalists in Jos on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Police Chris Olakpe, said the suspects would be charged for murder.
One of the suspects, Fwanmun Habaku, allegedly killed his three-month-old son while the other, Polycarp Danjuman, allegedly killed his two-year-old daughter.
Mr. Olakpe said the men were arrested following complaints by their suspicious neighbours.
According to the police boss, after preliminary investigations, the police discovered that the suspects killed their children to enrich themselves.
Both men have admitted to the crimes, but pleaded for mercy. They are being detained at the police headquarters in Jos.
The Plateau police also paraded 15 suspects accused of various offences; and also presented a vehicle stolen in Jos but recovered in Benin Republic.
The police commissioner assured that criminality would be reduced in the state. He warned that any suspect arrested would not be spared no matter how highly placed.
He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police to reduce crime in the state; and charged police officers to work harder to make Plateau crime free.
