Nasarawa Governor, Al-Makura, appoints first ever female SSG

Umaru Tanko Al Makura, Nasarawa State Governor

Zainab Abdulmumini was appointed SSG on Monday in Nasarawa, North-Central Nigeria.

Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Monday appointed Zainab Abdulmumini as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Ms. Abdulmumini, until her appointment, was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Administration, Bulus Musa, in Lafia, said that Mr. Al-Makura would inaugurate the new SSG on a date to be announced later.

Ms. Abdulmumini is the first woman to be appointed SSG since the creation of the state in 1996.

Mr. Al-Makura had dissolved his cabinet in February and removed the former SSG, Hamza Elayo, all commissioners and special advisers.

According to the governor, the dissolution of the cabinet is not meant to witch-hunt anyone, but to ‘inject new blood’ in the administration in order to fast-track its development agenda in the state.
